# Cleaning Bid Pricing

There are 2 basic ways to price cleaning services. The first is based on time and hourly rate. The second is based on square footage of the areas to be cleaned.

# Hourly Rate Pricing

The preferred method for pricing monthly services is using an hourly rate. If you look at it logically you are cleaning items in a room or area. Those item will take 1 to 10 minutes to clean based on the item and the frequency it gets cleaned. How big that area or space is has nothing to do with those items that need to be cleaned.

Once you determine the time it takes to clean the entire space you will need to calculate the monthly price.

Your hourly rate should be at least 2 times the minimum wage in your state. If the min. wage is $15 than you will charge a base rate of $30. This price goes up the less frequent you clean per week.

# Pricing Per SQFT

The Square footage method of pricing is typically used in pricing special services such floor care. If a client has 5000 sqft. of tile to be stripped and waxed you may charge $.40 per sqft. Which means the bid price is $2000.

Cleaning of large buildings are typically priced by square footage. This has become an industry practice for extremely large buildings. It would be time consuming to try to calculate by items. In this case you will need to take the data from your current accounts and figure out how long it takes your crew to clean per sqft. Once that is done you can give a price base on square footage. Your price maybe in the range of $.05 - $.25 per sqft.
